Types of Event
There are many types of events that an individual may be asked to steward at. Using the mind map below, identify as many of these events as you can.


The importance of safety crowd control
Crowd safety control is very important for the safety of the crowd / spectators; it keeps people from risks no matter what eventuality may arise.

Customer and participant experience
If effective safety procedures are in place at big events, it has a positive effect on the customers because they feel safe and relaxed knowing that there safety is in order and that security are in control of everything and everyone. The participants can also relax and get on with the job in hand keeping the spectators happy as well.

Legal Requirements
Football spectators Act 1989 / The football spectator’s act 1989 is an act of parliament of the United Kingdom that relates to the control of admission to spectators at designated football matches. It gives the safety authority the power to provide advice and guidance on matters of safety at sports grounds 

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974/The Health and Safety at work Act 1974 is an act of Parliament of the United Kingdom the HSAW is a primary piece of legislation that regulates safe practice at work both form the employer and employees. It is enforced by the health and safety executive who also enforces other health and safety acts such as RIDDOR OR COSH

Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sports Act/ Following the Bradford city fire the Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sports Act 1987 was introduced which made it the responsibility of local authorities to issue regulation certificates ensuring that stands have regulations safety standards on their premises for spectating purposes

Safety of Sports Act/ This act ensures that local authorities have to consider the potential risk that could occur to spectators and those persons performing the sports and ensuring that there is no serious danger towards anyone involved in the sport that will require the authorities to reduce the chance of risks to a reasonable level.

Legal limitations of a Steward               
A steward only has the powers of a normal citizens we do not have the powers of a police officer if a person refuses to be searched we only have the power to refuse entry from the venue. When an individual gives the steward there ticket this is a contact stating that they agree to follow the security protocol

Reasonable Force
The definition for reasonable force is “The degree of force which is able to be used. Will differ depending on the circumstances”
